In the UK, clinical psychologists are trained as generalists. Abe's training consisted of working with adults (18-65), older adults (>65), people withlearning disabilities (also known as mental retardation and developmental delay), as well as children and families, and included:
- Therapeutic interventions for a wide range of mental health problems
- Group-based interventions
- Neuro-psychometric assessment
- Organizational consultation
- Training
- Supervising mental health professionals
After qualifying, Abe worked specifically with children, adolescents and families, and his work included:
- Diagnostic assessments of children and adolescents with a range of mental health problems
- Therapeutic interventions with children, adolescents and families
- Neuro-psychometric assessment – especially children & adolescents with Asperger's Syndrome and Autism
- Running parenting workshops
- Providing training for schools and teachers
