In the UK, clinical psychologists are trained as generalists. Abe's training consisted of working with adults (18-65), older adults (>65), people withlearning disabilities (also known as mental retardation and developmental delay), as well as children and families, and included:

  • Therapeutic interventions for a wide range of mental health problems
  • Group-based interventions
  • Neuro-psychometric assessment
  • Organizational consultation
  • Training
  • Supervising mental health professionals

After qualifying, Abe worked specifically with children, adolescents and families, and his work included: 

  • Diagnostic assessments of children and adolescents with a range of mental health problems 
  • Therapeutic interventions with children, adolescents and families 
  • Neuro-psychometric assessment – especially children & adolescents with Asperger's Syndrome and Autism 
  • Running parenting workshops 
  • Providing training for schools and teachers
